• Animal Welfare League

This morning I popped out to the Animal Welfare League at Coombabah to drop off some old newspapers and recycled paper. They do a great job of re-homing animals and helping them find a loving family.

They are always desperate for old towels, warm blankets and newspapers for the kittens and puppies, so if you have any spare, they would love you to drop them in! If you want to find out more about the fantastic work the Animal Welfare League does, please visit their website here.

    P.S. we couldn’t resist a cuddle!

  • 100 days of Labor

This week marks 100 days of a Labor Government. And what did they do? They made sure working families would be worse off by increasing fees on car registration. Queensland already has the costliest car registration in Australia – why do Labor need to increase it?

  • MontroseAccess project in Labrador

On Monday it was a privilege to join members of the MontroseAccess board and my good friend and colleague Stuart Robert MP, the Federal Member for Fadden, to turn the sod on their new short-stay Respite and Accessible Family Accommodation facility in Labrador.

For more than 80 years Montrose has been inspiring and supporting quality lives for children with disabilities and their families in Queensland. Their mission is to provide support services to clients with physical disabilities and their families to assist these clients to achieve their maximum individual potential for participation in the community.

Currently MontroseAccess provide support to more than 100 families on the Gold Coast and this purpose built facility in Imperial Parade is critical to their ability to continue providing this support. This project is only possible because of the amazing support of an anonymous benefactor who has given $2 million toward the development of the facility. Construction is anticipated to be completed in December with the facility opening in January.

    Bushwalking with Bennett

This morning, Shadow Minister for Environment, Heritage Protection and National Parks, Stephen Bennett MP, visted Broadwater and I took the opportunity to take him on a 10km bushwalk through the Coombabah Lake Conversation Park.

The wetlands are an incredibly beautiful part of our local community, and we are blessed that they are maintained and kept in such a pristine manner.
